1. Patents

From January to October 2023, the number of authorized invention patents in China is 775,000, the number of authorized utility model patents is 1.755 million, and the number of authorized industrial design patents is 535,000.

As of the end of October 2023, the number of valid invention patents in China is 4.87 million. Among of which, the number of valid domestic invention patents (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) is 3.897 million, the effective number of utility model patents is 11.923 million, the effective number of design patents is 3.159 million.

From January to October 2023, 59,000 PCT international patent applications were accepted by CNIPA, 54,900 of which were submitted by domestic applicants.

From January to October 2023, Chinese applicants submitted 1,505 international industrial design applications in total, and 1,449 published international design applications designated China.

2. Trademarks

From January to October 2023, the number of trademark applications in China is 5.877 million; the number of trademark registrations is 3.525 million. As of October 2023, the number of valid registered trademarks is 45.447 million.

From January to October 2023, our office received 4,989 applications for Madrid trademark international registration from Chinese applicants.

3. Geographical indications and integrated circuit layout design

From January to October 2023, there were 9 geographical indication protection products approved in China, 168 geographical indications were approved as collective trademarks and certification marks registration, and 5,333 market entities were approved for the use of geographical indications. As of October 2023, 2,504 geographical indication products in total have been approved, 7,244 geographical indication registrations have been approved as collective trademarks and certification marks, and 26,296 market entities have been approved to use geographical indication special signs.

From January to October 2023, there were 9,846 applications for registration of integrated circuit layout designs and 9,071 issued in China.
