Recently, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology officially released the "White Paper on Global Digital Economy (2023)". According to the white paper, the artificial intelligence industry is ushering in rapid development, with intensifying innovation and application, and the steady development of the digital technology industry has released huge development potential.
In terms of industrial scale, the scale of the global artificial intelligence industry is growing rapidly. The global artificial intelligence market revenue is expected to reach US$513.2 billion in 2023, up 20.7% year-on-year.
In terms of enterprise development, as of the third quarter of 2023, there are 29,542 artificial intelligence enterprises in the world. The number of Chinese and American artificial intelligence companies accounts for nearly half of the global total. There are 9,914 in the United States (accounting for 34%), and 4,469 in China (accounting for 15%).
It is also mentioned in the white paper that the Large Model has set off the era waves, and the research and development of related products and applications have accelerated. For example, OpenAI released the multi-modal pre-training model GPT-4 with hundreds of billions of parameters, Google released PaLM2 with outstanding performance in multi-language translation, IBM released Watsonx, etc.
As for patent application authorization, from 2013 to Q3 2023, the cumulative number of global AI patent applications reached 1.29 million, and the cumulative number of global AI patent authorizations exceeded 510,000. China's AI patent applications accounted for 64% of the world's total, ranking first place in the world.
