China's agricultural science and technology papers and patent competitiveness steadily ascends in the front array worldwide

Scientific and technological papers and patents are intuitive indicators reflecting the power of scientific and technological innovation. "Analysis on the 2022 Global Competitiveness of China's Agricultural Science and Technology Papers and Patents" was written by the Science and Technology Information Analysis and Evaluation Innovation Team of the Agricultural Information Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS). Based on papers and patent data, profound analysis of the overall agricultural science and technology status quo has been done for 22 advanced agricultural countries such as the United States, Japan, France, and China and their institutions, and the following main conclusions are drawn:
It is reported that China's agricultural science and technology papers rank first in terms of the total number of published papers, the number of highly cited papers, and the number of Q1 journal papers. Among the top 10 institutions in the competitiveness of scientific and technological papers in 22 countries, Chinese institutions accounted for half of the list, and ranked the top 2. China ranks first in the institutional competitiveness index of scientific and technological papers in 9 disciplines. Among the top 100 institutions in the competitiveness of scientific and technological papers in 22 countries, institutions from the top 5 countries accounted for 73%, and institutions from China accounted for 34%.
For patents, China's agricultural invention patent applications ranked first in the world with 628,300 applications, accounting for "half" of the 22 countries' agricultural invention patents. The number of invention patents granted in China is 115,700, accounting for 47% of the 22 countries. Among the top 10 institutions with patent competitiveness in 22 countries, 2 Chinese institutions are on the list. Among the TOP100 institutions with patent competitiveness in 22 countries, the institutions from the top 5 countries accounted for 80% of the institutions, and the number of Chinese institutions accounted for 14%, ranking second in the number of selected institutions.
