Over the past five years, the People's Courts have concluded 2.194 million first-instance intellectual property cases, a year-on-year increase of 221.1%. China has become the country with the most heard cases of intellectual property, and one of the countries with the shortest trial period. China has also established an international high-standard infringement punitive compensation system. In accordance with the data from the Supreme People's Court, the amount of compensation awarded in intellectual property infringement cases in 2022 has increased by 153% compared with 2018.

In respect of administrative protection, in 2022, the intellectual property department handled 58,000 administrative adjudication cases of patent infringement disputes, handled 71,000 applications for rights protection assistance, and accepted 88,000 dispute mediation cases.

In recent years, more and more innovative subjects have been continuously recognized by the market with their high-level intellectual property creation. TCL CSOT (TCL China Star Optoelectronics Technology) has gradually built a highland of intellectual property rights by patented technology, technical standard, and other forms. By the end of 2022, TCL CSOT has authorized more than 22,000 patents worldwide, among which there're more than 14,000 PCT international patent applications.

China, the world's first country with more than 3 million effective domestic invention patents, ranks first in the world in terms of effective invention patents. As of the end of 2022, the number of high-value invention patents has reached 1.324 million, accounting for more than 40% of the effective number of invention patents; the number of high-value invention patents per 10,000 people in China is 9.4, and the number of high-value invention patents owned by domestic enterprises is 968,000; the average maintenance period of domestic high-value valid invention patents is 8.3 years, and the number of valid invention patents with a maintenance period of more than 10 years has reached 444,000.

On January 11 this year, the "Patent Business Handling System" of CNIPA was officially launched. The system provides "one-stop" acceptance services for invention patents, utility model patents, design patents, PCT international patent applications, and Hague design patent applications. It also adds business types of patent evaluation reports, patent withdrawals, etc, and provides information tools to improve the efficiency of writing application documents. Within just 4 days, the system received 25,000 new applications and 54,000 formalities documents.
