A press conference on "Case Filing Work in 2023 and ‘Reference for the Processing of Qualification Documents for Foreign-Related Case Subjects’" held by Beijing Intellectual Property Court

From January to November 2023, the Beijing Intellectual Property Court accepted a total of 24,324 intellectual property cases of various types, a decrease of approximately 7% compared with the same period last year (26,161 cases). For case types, there were 5,449 civil cases accepted, including 1,369 first-instance cases and 4,080 second-instance and other procedural cases; there were 18,875 administrative cases accepted, including 18,867 first-instance cases and 8 second-instance and other procedural cases, with administrative first-instance cases accounting for 77.6% of the total number of cases received, which is still the most common type of cases accepted by the Beijing Intellectual Property Court. In terms of acceptance channels, 16,436 first-instance cases were accepted online, 3,540 were filed by mail, and 226 were filed on-site, of which online filing accounts for 81.3%, an increase of 32% from the same period last year (49.2%).
In addition, from January to November 2023, accepted by the Beijing Intellectual Property Court there were 4,292 first-instance cases involving foreign countries, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan in total, accounting for 21.2% of the total first-instance cases, involving over 100 countries and regions on six continents worldwide, of which cases involving the United States, Cases from France, Germany, Japan, and South Korea account for more than half of all foreign-related cases.
