1. Statics of Global Invention Patent Publications in the last five years

In the ranking of 2019-2023 Global Invention Patent Publications, NIO ranked fourth with 3,719 invention patent publicizations, by virtue of its significant advantage in charging and switching technology. XPENG follows in fifth place with 3,281 invention patents, its continuous innovation in battery management system technology shows its technological leadership. And Li Auto ranked sixth with 3,126 invention patents by virtue of its continuing breakthrough in battery management system technology.

In recent years, the domestic head new car-manufacturing forces have been rapidly increased in global invention patents. In 2023, Li Auto ranked first in terms of global invention patent disclosure with an annual growth of 865 pieces, a compound annual growth rate of 58.09%, followed closely behind by NIO which has an annual growth of 443 pieces and a compound annual growth rate of 25.28%. This shows that the growth in invention patents of the domestic head of the new car- manufacturing forces has surpassed that of the internationally recognized luxury automobile brands.

2. Statics of China's invention patent disclosure in the field of new energy vehicles in the last five years

In the ranking of 2019-2023 China's new energy vehicle invention patent disclosures, NIO ranked first with 715 by its technological advantage in the field of complementary energy technology.

Varied from Li Auto, XPENG and other leading domestic new car-making forces’s continuously  strengthening  patent layout and growing number of invention patents, Audi and BMW, although both have already made patent layouts on power battery technology at an early stage, their invention patent disclosures in the field of new energy automobiles in 2023 only show a slow growth trend.

In the  ranking of 2019-2023 China's new energy vehicle charging system invention patent disclosures, NIO ranks first with 285 by virtue of its technical advantages in the field of conductive charging and switching technology; XPENG and Li Auto, as the leading new car-manufacturing forces in China, are focusing on the layout of the field of conductive charging technology compared with the internationally renowned luxury automobile brands Audi and BMW, and are accelerating their patent layout.
