The spokesperson of the CNIPA provided a relevant introduction.
First, China’s intellectual property management system has been historically reconstructed with management efficiency greatly improved.
Second, patents commercialization and application have been fully promoted, effectively driving industrial transformation and upgrading. In the first three quarters of this year, the number of patent transfer license filings of universities and research institutions nationwide increased by 24.1% year-on-year; the total amount of patent and trademark pledge financing registrations reached 792.23 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 60%; the total import and export amount of intellectual property royalties reached 307.2 billion yuan, growing 7.2% from a year earlier, all of which hit new records.
Third, legal protection of intellectual property rights has been strengthened, and support for innovation has been more powerful. As of the end of October this year, the average examination period for invention patents in China has been reduced to 15.6 months. The number of valid invention patents in China has reached 4.66 million, of which 3.417 million are owned by enterprises, accounting for 73.3% of all valid invention patents. As of June in 2024, the number of high-value invention patents per 10,000 people has reached 12.9.
Fourth, international cooperation and exchanges on intellectual property rights have been dramatically enhanced, and it’s effective for serving high-level opening. What have been realized includes mutual recognition and protection of 246 China-EU geographical indication products, promoting the upgrading and expansion of intellectual property cooperation among BRICS countries, establishing bilateral intellectual property cooperation relations with over 80 countries and regions and international organizations, and establishing patent examination highways with 33 countries and regions including the United States, Germany, France, and Japan. China's intellectual property cooperation map is keeping wider and wider.
