Ge Cheng IP Achieves Top Rankings in Patent Reexamination and Grant Rate in China

Ge Cheng & Co., Ltd. is proud to share that we have recently been recognized with top-tier rankings in two critical areas of patent practice among all Chinese patent law firms:

▪ No. 1 in Patent Reexamination Success Rate      (2020–2024)

▪ No. 6 in Patent Grant Rate in IPC Category B      (Performing Operations; Transporting)

These rankings are based on data from the official China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) and the patent analytics platform MindFlowing. According to MindFlowing's analysis, Ge Cheng achieved the highest reexamination success rate among firms with over 100 reexamination cases filed between 2020 and 2024. Our success rate nearly double the industry average during the same period (CNIPA Data via MindFlow).

In addition, Ge Cheng ranked No. 6 nationwide in the grant rate of invention patent applications in IPC Class B, which includes patents related to operations and transportation technologies. This ranking was drawn from official CNIPA statistics published in early 2024 (CNIPA Data via MindFlow).

We recognize that over time, the overall success rates in both reexamination and grant outcomes are gradually declining due to evolving examination standards and rising complexity in patent filings. However, our consistent ranking at the top of the field highlights the enduring strength of our legal strategies, technical expertise, and client-focused representation.

Ge Cheng’s performance in these areas is the result of our long-standing commitment to excellence and our ability to adapt to changes in China’s patent examination landscape. We thank our dedicated team of attorneys and our clients for their continued trust and support.

We remain committed to delivering outstanding results and continuing to lead in China's intellectual property sector.

Note: Re-examination rate was calculated based on the number of successful reexaminations divided by the total number of re-examination filings in the 2020–2024 period; Patent grant rate in IPC category B was calculated based on the number of grant cases divided by the total number of patent flings in IPC category B in the 2020-2024 period.
