CNIPA held its regular press conference in November 2025

China has transitioned from a major importer of intellectual property to a major creator of it, with the pursuit of IP work shifting from quantity to quality. China has now become the first country worldwide to hold over 5 million valid domestic invention patents, with its PCT international patent applications ranking first globally for 6 consecutive years. The value added of patent-intensive industries reached 16.87 trillion yuan, accounting for 13.04% of the GDP. Among the world's top 5,000 brands, the value of Chinese brands reaches 1.81 trillion US dollars, placing China second globally. The direct output value of geographical indication products is close to 970 billion yuan, keeping strong growth trend.

China's achievements in intellectual property development have also been highly recognized by international organizations. In the "Global Innovation Index 2025" report released by the WIPO, China's ranking rose to 10th place, entering the global top 10 for the first time. There are 24 clusters in China among the world's top 100 innovation clusters, taking the lead globally for 3 consecutive years. Notably, the Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Guangzhou cluster has secured the top global position for the first time.
