On November 29, the Beijing Municipal Higher People’s Court held a press conference to release the "White Paper on Professional Trial of Intellectual Property Rights in Beijing Courts for Thirty Years (1993-2023)" and 30 typical cases.

The "White Paper", with detailed data, sorts out the overall situation of the settlement of intellectual property cases in Beijing courts over the past 30 years, as well as the settlement of various types of intellectual property cases including administrative, civil, criminal, foreign-related, and cases related to Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. Data show that from 1993 to September 2023, a total of 624,577 new intellectual property cases of first instance, second instance, appeal, and retrial were received by Beijing courts, with 598,228 cases concluded. Among of which, a total of 621,762 first and second instance intellectual property cases were newly accepted, with an average annual growth rate of 21.8%; 595,520 cases were concluded, with an average annual growth rate of 22.2%. Since the 18th CPC National Congress, the number of intellectual property cases accepted by Beijing courts has increased rapidly, reflecting the significant improvement of China's comprehensive intellectual property strength and scientific and technological innovation in the new era.
