【GE CHENG News】Added value of China’s copyright industry in 2022 accounting for 7.41% of GDP

Recently, the Chinese Academy of Press and Publication (CAPP), under the guidance of the National Copyright Administration, completed a research report on the Economic Contribution of China's Copyright Industry in 2022. The added value of China’s copyright industry reached 8.97 trillion yuan in 2022 with a year-on-year increase of 5.83%, and stayed flat compared to 2020, according to the report. China’s copyright industry has gradually become an essential force in stimulating the cultural innovation and creativity of the entire nation and building a culturally powerful country.
From 2012 to 2022, the added value of China’s copyright industry increased from 3.57 trillion yuan to 8.97 trillion yuan, and its proportion in GDP rose from 6.87% to 7.41%, up 0.54 percentage points, in which the value added by the core copyright industries increased from 2.06 trillion yuan to 5.66 trillion yuan, and its proportion in GDP increased from 3.97% to 4.68%, an increase of 0.71%. New business formats including software and information technology services, electronic information manufacturing, digital publishing, and radio and television are developing well and continue to have a pulling effect on economic contribution to the copyright industry, which is the "main force" leading the high-quality development of the copyright industry.
