At the press conference held by the State Council Information Office, the responsible officer of the Supreme People's Court introduced the operation of the appeal hearing mechanism for intellectual property cases at terms of national level. This year marks the fifth anniversary of the establishment of the Intellectual Property Court of the Supreme People’s Court. Since its establishment on January 1, 2019, as of December 31, 2023, the court has accepted 18,924 cases and concluded 15,710 cases in total. The quality and efficiency of the trials are significantly better than the trial mechanism before the reform.

The quality and efficiency of trials in the Intellectual Property Court of the Supreme People's Court have been further improved. In the past 5 years, the court's judgment revision rate for civil substantive cases was 19.6%, and the mediation and withdrawal rate was 37.0%, which was higher than before the reform; the judgment revision rate for administrative substantive cases was 7.1%, basically the same as before the reform; the remand rate for civil and administrative substantive cases was 1.2% and 0.15% respectively, which is much lower than before the reform, and the average trial period of cases is shorter than before the reform.
