Recently, the 2024 Statistical Analysis Report on Green and Low-carbon Patents in English and Chinese versions have been issued by the CNIPA, which analyzes the disclosure, authorization and effective patents of green low-carbon patent applications in 2023, providing a statistical analysis of the development trend from 2016 to 2023.

In 2023, over 80% of green low-carbon patent applications were accepted by the five patent offices of China, the United States, Europe, Japan and South Korea. The year-on-year growth rate of green low-carbon patent application disclosures from Chinese applicants is higher than that of the world by 7.1%, contributing 75.7% to the growth of the global total. From 2016 to 2023, China has the fastest average annual growth rate of outward layouts, and Japan has the largest number of outward layouts. LG Group of South Korea won the first place for many consecutive years in green low-carbon patent application disclosure and authorization, China’s CATL rose to No. 2 in patent application disclosure in 2023, and State Grid Corporation of China ranked No. 2 in patent authorization in 2023.
