1. Patent
From January to July 2024, the number of authorized invention patents in China was 605,000, the number of authorized utility model patents was 1.175 million, and the number of authorized design patents was 359,000.
As of the end of July 2024, the number of valid invention patents in China is 5.416 million. Among them, there are 4.419 million valid domestic invention patents (excluding Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan). The effective number of utility model patents is 11.526 million and the effective number of design patents is 3.017 million.
From January to July, CNIPA has accepted 39,000 PCT international patent applications. Among them, 36,000 are applied by domestic applicants.
From January to June, a total of 1004 international design applications were applied by Chinese applicants.
2. Trademark
From January to July, the number of trademark applications in China was 4.11 million; the number of trademark registrations is 2.892 million. As of July 2024, there are 48.374 million valid registered trademarks.
From January to July, CNIPA received 4,221 applications for Madrid trademark international registration from Chinese applicants.
3. Geographical indications and integrated circuit layout design
From January to July, in China, there were 15 geographical indication products for production, 107 geographical indications as collective trademarks and certification marks for registration, and 5,358 market entities with special signs of geographical indications for use approved. As of July 2024, a total of 2,523 geographical indication products have been approved, a total of 7,384 geographical indication registrations have been approved as collective trademarks and certification marks, and 30,551 market entities have been approved to use geographical indication special signs.
From January to July, there were 6,371 applications for registration of integrated circuit layout designs in China; and 6,092 were issued.
