For patents, in the first half of the year in China, 393,000 invention patents were authorized, 1,473,000 utility model patents and 383,000 design patents were granted. 33,000 PCT international patent applications were accepted. Chinese applicants filed 353 international design applications under Hague Agreement concerning the International Registration of Industrial Design. 31,000 cases of patent reexamination were closed, and 5,000 cases for invalidation.

As of the end of June 2022, the number of valid invention patents in China was 3.906 million, a year-on-year increase of 17.5%.

For trademarks, in the first half of the year in China, 3.674 million trademarks were registered. 2,699 applications for international registration of Madrid trademarks submitted by domestic applicants were received. The number of trademark opposition cases completed the examination was 81,000, and the number of trademark review and adjudication cases trialed was 217,000.

As of the end of June 2022, there were 40.545 million valid registered trademarks in China, a year-on-year increase of 20.9%.

For geographical indications, in the first half of the year, 3 products with geographical indications were approved. 365 registrations of geographical indications as collective marks and certification marks were approved. 2,239 market entities using specific indications for geographical indications were approved.

As of the end of June 2022, a total of 2,493 geographical indication products have been approved. 6,927 registrations of geographical indications as collective marks and certification marks were approved. 19,350 market entities with specific indications for geographical indications were approved.

For layout-design of integrated circuits, in the first half of the year in China, 7,661 applications for the registration of layout-designs of integrated circuits were filed, 5,233 certificates were issued.

As of the end of June 2022 in China, a total of 74,000 applications for the registration of layout designs of integrated circuits had been issued, and 57,000 certificates were issued.

As of the end of June 2022 in China, the top 3 technical fields for the number of valid invention patents are respectively computer technology, measurement and digital communication, accounting for 9.4%, 7.6% and 6.8%, the top 3 in terms of growth rate are information technical management methods, computer technology and medical technology, increasing by 78.5%, 32.3% and 27.1%.
