Approved by the CNIPA, 55 patent pre-examination service classification numbers such as G08G traffic control system and G16B bioinformatics were added by Beijing Intellectual Property Protection Center and Zhongguancun Intellectual Property Protection Center.

Till now, the two protection centers have provided patent pre-examination services around 192 main classification subclasses of national patent classification (IPC) and 26 Locarno classifications involved in the new generation of information technology, high-end equipment manufacturing, new materials and biomedical industries, which will greatly meet the service needs of Beijing's innovative subjects for rapid review of high-quality patents, and offer strong support for the construction of Beijing's intellectual property power model city.

In 2022, the Beijing Intellectual Property Protection Center and the Zhongguancun Intellectual Property Protection Center that have been approved for construction, will be full of priority to support the expansion of the pre-examination service area. In order to make full use of supervision and incentive measures, take full advantage of the supporting role of patent pre-examination in technological innovation and development, and enhance the coverage of patent pre-examination services, research on the expansion of patent pre-examination service classifications has been actively carried out in the Beijing Intellectual Property Office, focusing on key technical fields such as integrated circuits, quantum technology, aerospace and bioinformatics applied to CNIPA to expand the scope of patent pre-examination service classification numbers, helping Beijing's innovation and development to run as "accelerated speed".

Patent rapid pre-examination service means that the protection center provides patent application pre-examination service for the filing applicant. The CNIPA conducts accelerated examination of patent applications that have been pre-examined by the Protection Center. That is to say, patent rapid pre-examination is one of the means for patents to enter the fast examination channel. It is a pre-examination before the patent is submitted to the CNIPA, after that, it can enter the fast track of the CNIPA to shorten the review period.

It is reported that the patent pre-examination service scope of the Beijing Intellectual Property Protection Center involves the new generation of information technology and high-end equipment manufacturing industries; the one of the Zhongguancun Intellectual Property Protection Center contains the biomedicine and new material industries. Within the scope of the field, the more service classification numbers for pre-examination service are provided, the more enterprises and institutions and patents can be helped, the cycle of patent authorization can be shortened, and the transformation and application of innovative achievements can be accelerated.
