It is reported recently that in 2022, a total of 798,000 invention patents and 6.177 million registered trademarks were authorized in China. By the end of 2022, the number of effective invention patents in China has reached 4.212 million, and the number of high-value invention patents per 10,000 people has reached 9.4; the number of valid trademark registrations has reached 42.672 million; a total of 2,495 geographical indication products have been approved, and 7,076 geographical indications and certification marks have been approved and registered as collective trademarks.  A total of 61,000 integrated circuit layout designs were authorized.

In 2022, in the national intellectual property system, a total of 58,000 administrative cases of patent infringement disputes were managed, a year-on-year increase of 16.8%; 71,000 applications for rights protection assistance were handled, and 88,000 dispute mediation cases were accepted. In terms of intellectual property pledge financing, the annual patent and trademark pledge financing amounted to 486.88 billion yuan, maintaining a growth rate of over 40% for 3 consecutive years. The CNIPA also introduced 12 specific measures in 4 aspects for the bailout and development of enterprises, and postponed the payment of annual patent fees of 1.56 billion yuan, benefiting 1.16 million patentees.

So far, the average examination period for invention patents has been reduced to 16.5 months, the examination period of high-value invention patents has been reduced to 13 months, and the average review cycle of trademark registration has been reduced to 4 months, providing strong support for high-quality creation of intellectual property rights. There has been also 62 national-level intellectual property protection centers and 35 rapid rights protection centers established; a nationwide intellectual property public service network and a public service model of "one-stop service" and "one-window service" built; provincial intellectual property public service agency covered, 348 national-level important public service outlets put into service.
