1. Patent

From January to July 2023, the number of authorized invention patents in China was 515,000, the number of authorized utility model patents was 1.254 million, and the number of authorized design patents was 383,000.

As of the end of July 2023, the number of valid invention patents in China is 4.641 million. Among them, there are 3.679 million valid domestic invention patents (excluding Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan). The effective number of utility model patents is 11.545 million and the effective number of design patents is 3.033 million.

From January to July 2023, CNIPA accepted 40,500 PCT international patent applications. Among them, 37,600 are applied by domestic applicants.

From January to June 2023, a total of 957 international design applications were applied by Chinese applicants. From January to July 2023, a total of 8372 international design applications were published designating China.

2. Trademark

From January to July 2023, the number of trademark applications in China was 4.105 million; the number of trademark registrations is 2.396 million. As of July 2023, there are 44.537 million valid registered trademarks.

From January to July 2023, CNIPA received 3,536 applications for Madrid trademark international registration from Chinese applicants.

3. Geographical indications and integrated circuit layout design

From January to July 2023, in China, there were 3 geographical indication products for production, 117 geographical indications as collective trademarks and certification marks for registration, and 4,202 market entities with special signs of geographical indications for use approved. As of July 2023, a total of 2,498 geographical indication products have been approved, a total of 7,193 geographical indication registrations have been approved as collective trademarks and certification marks, and 25,912 market entities have been approved to use geographical indication special signs.

From January to July 2023, there were 6,616 applications for registration of integrated circuit layout designs in China; and 5,671 were issued.
