1. Patent

From January to November 2023, the number of authorized invention patents in China was 849,000, the number of authorized utility model patents was 1.925 million, and the number of authorized design patents was 585,000.

As of the end of November 2023, the number of valid invention patents in China was 4.934 million. Among them, there were 3.958 million valid domestic invention patents (excluding Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan). The effective number of utility model patents was 12.05 million, and the effective number of design patents was 3.20 million.

From January to November 2023, CNIPA accepted 65,800 PCT international patent applications, and there were 61,200 applied by domestic applicants.

From January to November 2023, a total of 1,666 international design applications were applied by Chinese applicants, and a total of 1,636 international design applications were published designating China.

2. Trademark

From January to November 2023, the number of trademark applications in China was 6.534 million; the number of trademark registrations was 3.948 million. As of November 2023, there were 45.788 million valid registered trademarks.

From January to November 2023, CNIPA received 5,644 applications for Madrid trademark international registration from Chinese applicants.

3. Geographical indications and integrated circuit layout design

From January to November 2023, in China, there were 10 geographical indication products for production, 182 geographical indications as collective trademarks and certification marks for registration, and 5,662 market entities with special signs of geographical indications for use approved. As of November 2023, a total of 2,505 geographical indication products have been approved, a total of 7,258 geographical indication registrations have been approved as collective trademarks and certification marks, and 26,625 market entities have been approved to use geographical indication special signs.

From January to November 2023, there were 11,066 applications for registration of integrated circuit layout designs in China; 10,324 were issued.
