The global patent licensing platform Avanci recently announced its signing of a 5G license agreement with General Motors and welcomed the Volkswagen Group to its 5G Vehicle Licensing Program.
On February 13, Avanci announced that it had signed a 5G connected vehicle license agreement with General Motors, extending the cooperation between the two parties to the next generation of connected vehicles. After the latest agreement with Avanci is signed, General Motors' 5G connected vehicles will obtain all 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G standard essential patent licenses from over 60 patentees in the Avanci 5G vehicle program and those who will join in the future.
Avanci proclaimed on February 20 that all brands of vehicles, buses, and trucks under the Volkswagen Group will join the Avanci 5G vehicle licensing program as licensees. Audi, Bentley, CUPRA, Lamborghini, MAN, Navistar, Porsche, Scania, Scout Motor, Seat, Skoda, and Volkswagen, as well as Volkswagen trucks and buses, will obtain all 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G standard essential patent licenses from over 60 patentees in the Avanci 5G vehicle program and those who will join in the future.
On August 16, 2023, Avanci announced the launch of its 5G connected vehicle program, which can simplify the licensing process for next-generation connected vehicles to acquire cellular technology.
The Avanci 5G vehicle program is based on the success of the Avanci 4G vehicle program. Nowadays, more than 150 million connected vehicles from nearly 100 car brands worldwide have received Avanci 4G vehicle licenses. Since the launch of the Avanci 5G vehicle project in August last year, more than a dozen vehicle brands and over 60 licensees have been included.
