1. Patent

From January to April 2024, the number of authorized invention patents in China was 362,000, the number of authorized utility model patents was 601,000, and the number of authorized design patents was 211,000.

As of the end of April 2024, the number of valid invention patents in China is 5.274 million. Among them, there are 4.287 million valid domestic invention patents (excluding Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan). The effective number of utility model patents is 12.256 million and the effective number of design patents is 3.289 million.

From January to April 2024, CNIPA has accepted 21,100 PCT international patent applications. Among them, 19,200 are applied by domestic applicants.

From January to April 2024, a total of 676 international design applications were applied by Chinese applicants. From January to April 2024, a total of 700 international design applications were published designating China.

2. Trademark

From January to April 2024, the number of trademark applications in China was 2.223 million; the number of trademark registrations is 1.724 million. As of April 2024, there are 47.507 million valid registered trademarks.

From January to April 2024, CNIPA received 2,293 applications for Madrid trademark international registration from Chinese applicants.

3. Geographical indications and integrated circuit layout design

From January to April 2024, in China, there were 2 geographical indication products for production, 84 geographical indications as collective trademarks and certification marks for registration, and 758 market entities with special signs of geographical indications for use approved. As of April 2024, a total of 2,510 geographical indication products have been approved, a total of 7,361 geographical indication registrations have been approved as collective trademarks and certification marks, and 26,406 market entities have been approved to use geographical indication special signs.

From January to April 2024, there were 3,503 applications for registration of integrated circuit layout designs in China; and 4,189 were issued.
