On May 28, the China National Intellectual Property Administration, together with the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, held a press conference to introduce the latest progress in intellectual property protection and interpret the Implementation Plan for the Construction of the Intellectual Property Protection System (hereinafter referred to as the Implementation Plan).

The institutions for rapid intellectual property protection mentioned in the Implementation Plan have achieved the following positive results in promoting rapid and coordinated protection:

First, the coverage of institutions for rapid intellectual property protection continues to expand. So far, 71 national intellectual property protection centers and 42 rapid rights protection centers have been established across the country. Intellectual property protection centers have basically been built in major metropolis and cities with strong economic power nationwide. Rapid rights protection centers have basically been built in major small commodity and fast-moving consumer goods industry clusters.

Second, the effectiveness of rapid protection has become increasingly prominent. From January to April this year, 35,000 rights protection cases were accepted by the institutions for rapid intellectual property protection across the country, with an average processing period of about 2 weeks, and 85,000 patent pre-examination requests were accepted, the authorization period of invention patents that passed the pre-examination was kept within 3 months, greatly facilitating the rights holders to obtain rights and protect the rights.

Third, the rapid protection service benefits a slew of innovation entities. Nowadays, there are over 150,000 enterprises and institutions registered with the rapid protection institutions. In 2023, institutions for rapid intellectual property protection in China issued a total of 833 patent analysis and navigation reports, carried out 2,142 public welfare training activities, and trained 413,000 people, showing more obvious role of serving innovation entities.
