Ministry of Industry and Information Technology: Four advantages constitute the competitiveness of new energy vehicles

He Hai-lin, Deputy Director of the Operations Monitoring and Coordination Bureau of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, stated in a large-scale multimedia interview program called "China Economic Roundtable" launched by Xinhua News Agency on the 20th that China's competitiveness in the new energy vehicle industry mainly manifests in four aspects: continuous innovation and accumulation of technological and brand advantages, industrial chain advantages formed by perfect supporting capabilities, industrial scale advantages fostered by a vast market, and abundant human resources and factor advantages.

In recent years, China has responded to the trend of automotive industry transformation by coordinating efforts in technological innovation, market cultivation, and infrastructure construction, thus driving the rapid development of the new energy vehicle industry. In 2023, the production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 9.587 million and 9.495 million units respectively, ranking first globally for nine consecutive years. In the first quarter of 2024, China's production and sales of new energy vehicles increased by 28.2% and 31.8% year-on-year respectively, while exports of new energy vehicles grew by 23.8%, making it a significant force driving the global automotive industry's electrification transformation.

He stated that currently, the global automotive industry is accelerating its integration with energy, transportation, information communication, and other fields, presenting greater development opportunities and broader development space for new energy vehicles.
