Stanford report: 61.1% of the world's granted AI patents come from China

In April this year, Stanford University released the "Artificial Intelligence Index Report 2024" (hereinafter referred to as the "Report"). According to the "Report",over the last decade, there has been a significant rise in the number of AI patents, the majority of the world’s granted AI patents are from China (61.1%) and the United States (20.9%).
The Report shows that in 2023, the United States led with 61 notable machine learning models, followed by China with 15, and France with 8. For the first time since 2019, the European Union and the United Kingdom together have surpassed China in the number of notable AI models produced.
It is pointed out in the report that in terms of investment amount, despite a decline in overall AI private investment last year, funding for generative AI surged. In 2023, the United States saw AI investments reach $67.2 billion, nearly 8.7 times more than China ($7.8 billion), the next highest investor, nearly 17.8 times more than the United Kingdom ($3.8 billion).
