On September 28, 2024 Global Intellectual Property Conference of Biotech and Pharmaceutical of a great deal of attention was successfully held in Guangzhou Development Zone. The event features thought-provoking discussions on hot-button issues surrounding IP protection, patent portfolio, and technology commercialization in pharmaceutical and healthcare industry, and how to promote the healthy development of the industry by IP strategy.  

The "Global Patent Ranking of Pharmaceutical and Medical Competence" was released during the conference, including the overall ranking of global invention patent in the medical device industry (TOP100) and sub-rankings of medical imaging diagnostic device, medical endoscope device, and implantable medical devices, the overall ranking of global invention patent in the biopharmaceutical industry (TOP100) and sub-rankings of antibody drugs, anti-tumor drugs, and cell gene therapy drugs, as well as the list of agents’ invention patent agency numbers.

The list indicates that 6 applicants among the top 50 are from China, Hengrui Medicine (2,946) ranks 20th, CTTQ (2,491) ranks 25th, China Pharmaceutical University (1,595) ranks 39th, Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences (1,348) ranks 45th, WuXi AppTec (1,260) ranks 48th, and Lunan Pharmaceutical (1,197) ranks 50th.
