1. Patents

From January to October 2024, the number of authorized invention patents in China is 889,000, the number of authorized utility model patents is 1.656 million, and the number of authorized industrial design patents is 513,000.

As of the end of October 2024, the number of valid invention patents in China is 5.591 million. Among of which, the number of valid domestic invention patents (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) is 4.586 million, the effective number of utility model patents is 11.621 million, the effective number of design patents is 3.038 million.

From January to October 2024, 59,000 PCT international patent applications were accepted by CNIPA, 55,000 of which were submitted by domestic applicants.

From January to October 2024, Chinese applicants submitted 1,751 international industrial design applications in total, and 1,996 published international design applications designated China.

2. Trademarks

From January to October 2024, the number of trademark applications in China is 5.740 million; the number of trademark registrations is 3.885 million. As of October 2024, the number of valid registered trademarks is 49.093 million.

From January to October 2024, our office received 5,827 applications for Madrid trademark international registration from Chinese applicants.

3. Geographical indications and integrated circuit layout design

From January to October 2024, there were 36 geographical indication protection products approved in China, 123 geographical indications were approved as collective trademarks and certification marks registration, and 7,282 market entities were approved for the use of geographical indications. As of October 2024, 2,544 geographical indication products in total have been approved, 7,400 geographical indication registrations have been approved as collective trademarks and certification marks, and 32,206 market entities have been approved to use geographical indication special signs.

From January to October 2024, there were 9,248 applications for registration of integrated circuit layout designs and 8,399 issued in China.
