The effective number of domestic invention patents reached 4.756 million, becoming the first country in the world to exceed 4 million, and the number of applications for PCT international patents, Madrid International Trademarks, and Hague Designs ranked among the world's top. The effective number of invention patents for strategic emerging industries reached 1.349 million, up 15.7% year-on-year.

 

The completion of the inventory and value analysis of 1.349 million patents in more than 2,700 colleges and universities and scientific research institutes across the country has been made, forming a resource database of transformable patents, and accurate docking with 450,000 enterprises was organized.

 

The number of patent transfer licenses filed for the year reached 613,000, up 29.9% from a year earlier; among them, the number of patent transfer licenses filed for colleges and universities and scientific research institutes reached 76,000, an increase of 39.1% year-on-year.1 The added value of the patent-intensive industries nationwide in 2023 reached RMB 16.87 trillion yuan and accounted for 13.04% of the GDP, rising 0.44% over the previous year.

 

From January to November in 2024, the total import and export of intellectual property royalties nationwide reached 356.41 billion yuan, 6.6% higher than a year earlier.

 

According to the latest "2024 Global Innovation Index Report" released by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), China ranks 11th in the global innovation index and is one of the economies with the fastest increase in innovation in the past 10 years; It has 26 global top 100 technology innovation clusters, ranking first for the second consecutive year.
