Recently, patients infected with Mycoplasma pneumoniae increased in hospitals in many places. Azithromycin, one of the treatments for Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection, has attracted attention.

It is investigated that there are over 300 patent applications related to "azithromycin" in China, including 280 invention patents and 12 utility model patents. Nearly 100 of all patent applications have been authorized. Valid patents include "A method to regulate the stability of mixed bacterial colony polyhydroxyalkanoate synthesis with azithromycin" applied by Harbin Institute of Technology, "A method for improving bulk density, fluidity and preparing non-agglomerated azithromycin crystals" applied by Tianjin University, "Application of Azithromycin and Telithromycin in Anti-Ebola virus infection" applied by the Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and "Application of Bupleurum extract combined with Azithromycin in the treatment of Viral Pneumonia" and "A kind of azithromycin freeze-dried powder injection and its preparation method" applied by a pharmaceutical company, etc.
